Highlights:
This circular tour from Deutschnofen (Nova Ponente) via Maria Weissenstein, continuing towards the Weisshorn (Corno Bianco) and up to Jochgrimm (Passo Oclini) is truly one of those experiences that stay with you.
Shortly after setting off, the landscape opens up like a great promise. The route to Maria Weissenstein follows a section of the E5, the famous European long-distance hiking trail – a path rich in history that here winds through quiet forests and soft plays of light. Then, suddenly, the view opens up: Maria Weissenstein, a place filled with peace, spirituality and living tradition. Perfect for a short break to visit the impressive monastery, the magnificent pilgrimage church or even the small brewery, where the scent of malt and fresh beer creates a truly special atmosphere.
Re-energised, the route continues towards the Weisshorn. With every metre, nature becomes more pristine and powerful. At Jochgrimm, a distinctive breeze blows, one that feels as if it clears the mind. Your gaze wanders across mountain ridges, alpine meadows and the distant horizon – a moment that lingers. The trail then continues over the Gurndin and past the cosy Isihütte, where a cappuccino on the sunny terrace tastes like a small piece of South Tyrolean joie de vivre.
Then comes one of those magical moments: Lavazè Pass – aperitivo time.
Here, overlooking the small, sparkling lake, a cool drink tastes like pure summer. A glass in hand, the sun on your face and the mountains in view – it’s hard to imagine a more perfect pause.
On the way back, culinary highlights await: Neuhütt or Laabalm, two places where good food feels right at home. Here you can enjoy a typical South Tyrolean lunch – dumplings, Schlutzkrapfen and a sweet Kaiserschmarrn. Or perhaps a slice of cake, a cappuccino or crispy Strauben.
Whatever you choose, one thing is certain: enjoyment should never be missing.
From here, the route leads gently back to Deutschnofen. The final kilometres seem to roll by effortlessly, carried by the landscape, the flavours and that quiet feeling of freedom.
